The Director/VP of Contract Logistics, based in Frankfurt, Germany, reports directly to the EVP of Contract Logistics. This role holds overall responsibility for the management and profitability of all Contract Logistics branches within the region/country, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and driving operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
Strategy Development and Implementation:
Developed and implement the overall Contract Logistics and Ecommerce strategy to drive revenue growth and improve operational efficiency.
Align Contract Logistics initiatives with the broader business goals and objectives.
Business Management:
Formulate and implement effective business plans and strategies to facilitate both increased revenues and enhanced profitability of the business in the country.
Ensure that all branches are operating efficiently. Conduct regular performance reviews at each branch with a particular focus on revenue and profitability growth, cost management and operation productivity and efficiency.
Grow market share and build a track record for the Company to increase its presence and awareness in the country.
Operation Management:
Provide leadership and guidance to the operation management team to ensure the operation efficiency.
Drive quality and best practices
Implement the strategic initiatives
Mitigate operational risks
Client Engagement:
Ensure client satisfaction is achieved by providing high quality service and keeping abreast of developments in the market.
Accurately forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams
Financial Management:
Work with the department and country Finance Director to prepare budgets / business forecasts and monitor actual performance, ensure effective expenses / cost and debtors’ management within the Country.
Set financial benchmarks
Track performance profitability
People Management:
Provide leadership, direction, and ongoing mentoring / coaching to the management team in the country, ensuring balanced focuses are being placed on both people and task, financial and non-financial performances.
Work with HR to enhance and develop the human capital in the country, via a combination of recruitment, retention, redeployment, job rotation, performance management, training, and development. Formulate a succession plan in relation to all key positions in the country.
Drive a performance management culture within the country by setting performance goals, providing ongoing performance feedback to employees, and measuring actual performance against benchmark goals.
Maintain a positive employee relations environment in the country.
Lead by example in terms of professional conduct, work ethic and interaction with clients. This includes compliance with all company policies and instructions and the Standards of Business Conduct.
System & Process Management:
Work with IT to ensure the company systems are properly used and implemented in the country and information records and reports are available.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Requirements
15+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, ground transportation and inventory control within a global organization.
Experience in building team, open sites and engagement with complex projects such as WMS transitioning
In depth knowledge and experience with key supply chain/logistics processes, best practices, and implementing process improvements
Strong business acumen with both strategic skills and the ability to implement and execute.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a critical thinker who can work through complex business issues and make decisions quickly.
Highly collaborative and proactively engages colleagues from all relevant functions. Excellent organizational skills, teamwork, leadership development, lean/problem solving and communication capabilities.
A high sense of urgency and the ability to build and lead strong teams to achieve new levels of performance
Excellent computer skills including experience utilizing multiple ERP & WMS systems; also, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Demonstrated leadership in a LEAN / 6 Sigma environment
A bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business or a related field will be an advantage
