WCL.de is seeking an experienced Director, International Customs Operations on behalf of DHL to lead the customs operations facility in Columbia, South Carolina. This position encompasses strategic leadership, performance management, and accountability for profitable growth. The Director will oversee multiple management levels, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Lead the Document Records, COSS, and Entry Process teams to ensure smooth and compliant operations at the Columbia, SC facility.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations while maintaining an error rate of less than 1% for submitted entries, minimizing corrections or additional billings.
Performance Management: Oversee staffing, processes, and vendor management (centralized, offshore, and decentralized) to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deliver optimal results.
Financial Responsibility: Drive revenue growth and exercise cost control to achieve budgetary targets.
Supervisory Oversight: Collaborate closely with operational staff to ensure adherence to customs regulations and compliance with company and customer standards.
Team Development: Foster career development through support, mentoring, and motivation of customs managers and teams to meet organizational goals.
Strategic Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders on critical issues, promoting cross-functional coordination and leveraging informal networks.
Planning and Consultation: Work with colleagues and top management on long-term strategic initiatives to enhance cross-functional effectiveness and strengthen organizational impact.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with over 10 years of relevant experience.
Professional Credentials: Customs brokerage license strongly preferred.
Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and execute a comprehensive vision for customs operations that integrates compliance, customer service, and financial objectives.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical competencies.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database applications.
Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated personal leadership, team management, and coaching skills.
Financial Expertise: Experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
